    About advanced tap

The best thing about KNT classes is the flexibility of pay as you go classes and good quality teachers. Karen really looks after all of the students and goes out of her way to make sure we all enjoy our dance experience! Advanced tap has been such a great class with a friendly group of people and the chance to learn lots of routines with different styles. The emphasis is on enjoying dancing, which is what I love about it. – Bernie
I’ve been learning with Verity since October (I’d never tapped before) and I’ve just moved into her intermediate class. She’s super patient with us and she explains everything really clearly. She remembers and recognises our individual abilities and has found a way to deliver a class applicable to everyone in it. She obviously works hard away from the dancehouse putting routines together and really thinks about how to make it relevant and seasonal! It’s great. I’m having a wonderful time learning to tap and a lot of that has to do with Verity and her lesson style. – Martin
  • TAP

Tap is a fantastic way to improve your rhythm and get fit in a social environment. We fuse together many styles including rhythm tap, broadway tap and hoofing, and set it to a wide array of music – from the traditional genres of big band and swing, to the latest chart sounds.

Every class starts with a gentle warm up focussed on loosening up the knees and ankles. We’ll teach you all the basic steps including shuffles, springs and pickups and build them up into more complex combinations like timesteps. Each class finishes with a new routine each week for you to put your newly learnt tap skills to the test!

    Beginners

Our Beginners tap class is an ideal place to start for those who are new to tap, or dance in general. It’s also a great chance for anyone who hasn’t danced for some time to dust off their tap shoes and ease themselves back into dancing gently. Tap shoes aren’t necessary for your first few lessons, however, the class does get a lot easier once you’ve invested in a pair.

    Intermediate Tap

A great opportunity for people with experience in tap looking to keep their skills up to date, or people who’ve been to our beginner classes and are looking to take their dancing to the next level. The class builds on basic techniques learnt in the Beginner class to develop harder and longer combinations. The pace of the class is also increased to keep experienced dancers challenged.

    Advanced Tap

Advanced tap classes are led a bit different to the other two levels. Class always starts with a warm up. You’ll then go straight into learning a routine. If there are any new or challenging steps then training exercises will be set and once perfected, you’ll go straight back to learning the routine. This helps concentrate on the full package of tap dance. You’ll be using your arms, legs, head, feet and most importantly, brain! A sort of mix between tap and jazz – great fun!
